Olympus PEN E-P2 was officially launched 2 years ago. With the exception of the color it comes in, manufacturers haven’t changed the design of their latest product. They have, however, added more features, a slightly raised hotshoe that makes room for the new accessory port. You should be aware that the gadget is now more expensive than its predecessors. We invite you to find out more about it from our review below.
3” LCD touchscreen As already mentioned, the Olympus PEN E-P2 is almost similar to the E-P1, except the color which is now an elegant shiny black. The camera measures 120.5mm x 70mm x 35mm and has a weight of 385g. the 17mm lens on the retro front is silver and the grip area is now larger. The rear is digital and houses a 3” LCD touchscreen with 460.000 dots and 800 x 600 pixel resolution, a thumbgrip for a more secure hold, a scroll wheel and the speaker; the display is vibrant and we had no problem viewing it in direct sunlight when we tested the device for our review, thanks to a technology called HyperCrystal. On the left of Olympus E-P2 are the focal plane indicator, mode dial, hot shoe (with a VF-2 electronic viewfinder), power switch, Super Sonic Wave Filter lamp and, finally, EV adjustment and shutter release keys.
On the right sit four buttons, including the Menu, User-definable function, Info, Playback and Function ones. The most interesting of the bunch was the User-definable function button, because it enabled us access to a Face Detection mode, set manual white balance, test an unsaved test picture, toggle the LCD backlight and much more. What we didn’t like about the PEN E-P2 camera were the controls; they were difficult to reach. The mode dial provided manual and semi manual PASM modes, movie capture, intelligent auto and access to scene modes and eight Art Filters. The mode of operation is the same as the one on the E-P1 and for that the camera comes with a detailed current settings, two-axis digital level, basic settings plus a histogram or AF area, selectable thumbnail previews of exposure or white-balance compensation, scale/grid display or image only.

Olympus PEN E-PL3 interchangeable lens compact camera to ship in September Olympus broke new ground with the E-PL1 when it was announced in February of 2010, being the first ILC vendor to offer a lower-end model, and I actually found the E-PL2 more satisfying to shoot with than its higher-end siblings the E-P1 and E-P2, and more » |

Olympus adds new PEN cameras and lenses to range The new flagship Olympus PEN E-P3 has a similar pixel count and body shape to the EP-2 released at the end of 2009 but almost everything else has changed. To the rear of the classically-styled, all metal 4.8 x 2.72 x 1.35-inch (121.92 x 69 x 34.29 mm) and more » |
Olympus Pen E-P3
