Another camera we will be reviewing today is the mirrorless system camera Panasonic Lumix DMC-G2, a considerable improvement from the G1 in terms of video mode, image quality, performance and build quality. We tested the device and here is our opinion.
Much improved When we first saw the device, its design and body reminded us of the G1 series. The Panasonic DMC-G2 is compact and features superb finish and fit DSLR; its body is made of high-impact resin plastic. The camera comes in classic matt black, red and blue. The ports are covered in plastic plugs which make them look flimsy. When compared to its predecessor, the manufacturers of the gadget we tested for our review changed the placement of the SD card slot; this one now sits into the battery compartment and this means that users will change the memory card with great difficulty when using a tripod.
The control layout of this model is also very similar to the one on the G1 one series. Some of the little exceptions: a 14-42mm kit lens (with excellent sharpness and without any wide-angle distortion or chromatic aberration), the AF mode dial comes with an extra layer with a side switch used to select between focus point options, the single adjustment wheel is situated on the back above the thumb rest, the Quick Menu and Film Mode keys now sit on the back of the gadget; the latter change was made in order to offer some space to the new illuminated button that activates the Intelligent Auto mode and the dedicated key which enables video recording.
