Panasonic GF3 Review
The GF3 uses the Micro four thirds (or Micro 4/3) standard also featured by a number of other camera makers, including the Micro 4/3 creators: Panasonic and Olympus. Some other brands use similar designs but based on the larger APS-C sensors often found in Single Lens Reflex (SLR) cameras. These cameras, such as Samsung’s NX100 or the Sony NEX-3, are technically not considered to be Micro 4/3, but they share the same idea, goal and overall design: giving customers SLR-style versatility and picture quality in a compact, lightweight body.
I won’t go through the whole list of specifications, but here are a few things that you should keep in mind:
Size : with 107.5 x 67.1 x 32mm, the GF3 is one of the smallest cameras in its category, but it is not the smallest. The Sony NEX-C3 gets the title with 109.6 x 60.0 x 33mm. Still, the sizes for both cameras are largely comparable. When compared to the GF2, the GF3 is 17% smaller. I have the GF1, which is noticeably bigger than the GF2 already… so it’s much bigger than the GF3.

Apparently , you havent seen the sony nex5. that thing doesnt even look like a camera, no knob and the body looks like an L- block from a 3d tetris game. Just be glad they gave you an aps-c sensor in the nx100. It has the same sensor as the pentax k-7, and that didnt stop ppl from buying that camera. Alot of cameras nowadays are made of plastic, the rebels are made of plastic, yet its the number 1 seller for Canon. The better camera would be the nx10 or 11, but for a first try in that style the nx100 is not as bad as ppl think. It does need a rubber grip. But if you think that the nx100 is ugly , wait till you see the Panasonic gf-3. LOL
I’m totally in for one once the used prices drop (you can get a new kit for $370 anyway). Sure it’s not pretty, but it’s better looking than the NEX, and it’s got two adjustment wheels, which is fantastic. Couple that with i-Function and a decent, low-profile EVF and it’s a great deal. However the real kicker is the lens lineup…fantastic (better than the Panny 20mm, if sadly a bit slower aperture-wise) 30mm pancake, very good 20mm pancake, a full-size (i.e. NEX-sized) 18-55 zoom, a compact 20-50 zoom, a 50-200 (or is it 55?), a 16mm pancake, an 85 1.4… awesome.
